Well, we've returned from the Mountains. Twas a lovely weekend. The football game was awesome (obviously!) We did a little walking in Tryon. Abby bought two books, Melissa bought enough to start her own bookstore. I got The Awakening and Music For Chameleons. Super excited if I can ever finish Becoming Madame Mao. The style is slowing me down.
Other weekend highlights: While we were waiting for Michael and Ash to catch up with us I got these fabulous new shoes. Orange sequined wedges. So Clemsontastic.
Mostly it was just a nice relaxing weekend with no cable, no internet, and no cell phone! I hate that stupid thing. It rings a lot. Grrrrrr.
We did have a little excitement on the way down the mountain today when JD's brakes started smoking like crazy. Tiny bit scary! Apparently stopping and letting them cool off will fix it. Who knew?
Time for me to now take care of my girl getting into grad school. More later.

A Series of Unfortunate Events
Friday night was sort of a parade of accidents that kept sort of turning out fine.
Background: Dana is up visiting from ATL. JD and Melissa plan to join us for some fun.
Unfortunate Event 1: Abby, Dana and JD try to go to Sonic for dinner. Some downed power lines have traffic in Anderson backed up for blocks. Three lanes are condensed to one with no direction whatsoever. Anderson's finest were just sort of standing around doing nothing.
U.E. 2: As it turns out Abby and Dana don't actually know where the Sonic is.
Redemption: JD has a hunch about the location of Sonic. We bravely turn off the beaten path and charge through the middle of nowhere. Miraculously there is a Sonic. My friends Phil and Greg show up and hang out with us.
U.E. 3: After dinner we stop by my room to grab a sweater and then head downtown. We walk all the way down the big hill and I realize I forgot my license. We trek all the way back up and all the way back down and when we get to Nick's they don't even card me.
Redemption: I did get a delicious Yuengling
U.E. 4: Melissa calls us at Nick's to tell us her car won't start. We abandon our revelry to save her. We walk all the way back up the hill to Dana's car, drive out to her and spend an hour trying to get the Kia going. No luck.
Redemption: After giving up on the car we drive out to Bloom's to try and make up for the tragedy. There we make our own six packs (3) and get a bottle of Sake. We also order a pizza for good measure. We go to Melissa's and play Trivial Pursuit 90's edition as a drinking game. We finally decide to call it quits at almost 5am and crash on Melissa's floor (well, not me, I slept in her bunk bed, but the boys had to sleep on the floor.)
U.E. 5: We all get up after less than 5 hours of sleep. Things to do.
Redemption: After hauling the battery to the car place, we find out all Mel's car needs is a new battery.
So lots of bad-ish things happened, but we managed to spin them all for the best.
